How To Fix Scratch Live Song Skipping During Set

Hi there.
My laptop is quite old all this might be because of that but I'm not sure. I've had some running issues with my Macbook Pro as a whole particularly with the audio slightly skipping whilst playing in serato. It appeared to be down to an old Hardrive (which I've since now repaced). I also had an old battery which was on the way out and I have also had that replaced. I still seem to be having problems with the audio skipping slightly especially whilst mixing or having 2 tracks playing at once.
I have tried switching off other active programs (Spotify etc), as well as bluetooth, the airport, screen saver and setting energy saver sections to 'never'. But still the same problem. The only thing I haven't done is change the buffer size which at present is at the default '10'.
Have you guys got any ideas how to fix this? Do I need more RAM possibly? (Spec details below);
-OS X El Capitan 10.11.4
-MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010)
-Processor 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5
-Memory 8GB 1067 MHz DDR3
-Serato Scratch Live 2.5.0
-Rane SL 1

And this leads me to believe that the NS7 III will suffer the same fate. Luftrum sound design ambient 2 for omnisphere 2 torrent. (Tracks Skipping & Jumping) Remember the NS7 III (The main DJ portion of the unit) is just an NS7 II unit with a screen bar bundled together. So unless you've implemented a 'hardware fix' for this issue for the NS7 III, then I stand by my feelings.
